The camera is not just a recorder. It is a point of view. Every shot size, angle, movement, and cut tells the audience how close they are allowed to feel.

Shot size is emotional distance

A wide shot gives geography. A medium shot gives body language. A close-up gives pressure, emotion, and detail. If an edit feels random, it is often because the coverage never changed emotional distance with purpose.

Think like the edit

Good camera storytelling protects the editor. That means capturing beginnings and endings of actions, clean reaction shots, environmental cutaways, and enough quiet detail to bridge moments together.

Do not chase more shots. Chase clearer decisions. A film becomes easier to watch when every frame knows why it exists.
